In March 2022, the streaming service HBO Max announced «Welcome to Derry» — a prequel to the famous horror movie «It» by Stephen King.

- The series takes place in the city of Derry in the 1960s, before the story shown in «It».
- «Welcome to Derry» will tell you where Pennywise came from — a demonic clown who awakens every 27 years to devour children.
- The series is executive produced by Andres Muschietti, director of the latest It adaptation, and Jason Fuchs.
- Muschietti will direct the pilot episode, while Fuchs will write the script for the entire season.
- It is not known who will play Pennywise. In the latest film adaptation, the role was played by Bill Skarsgård.
- Stephen King himself approved the prequel idea and said that he would look forward to the series — but he was not involved in its creation.
- Filming of the series will begin on April 3, 2023 in Toronto, Canada.
- A release date for Welcome to Derry on HBO Max has yet to be announced.
