The Antifraud call blocking system will be fully launched by the end of 2023 with the connection of all Russian telecom operators, TASS writes with reference to a statement by the director of the Center for Monitoring and Control of the Public Communications Network (CMU SSOP) subordinate to Roskomnadzor Sergey Khutortsev.
“Currently, four large telecom operators are connected to the system, they are already verifying calls — this is about 80%. According to the plan, by the end of this year, it is planned to connect all telephone operators in Russia. The target is about 90% of calls to be verified. The system should be fully operational by the end of the year or in the first quarter of next year — technologically there should be no more calls with number substitution in the Russian Federation, ”- Khutortsev said on Wednesday at the Cybersecurity in Finance forum currently taking place in Yekaterinburg.
The Antifraud system allows you to identify and block calls from spoof numbers. As Khutortsev explained, a cross-request is made to the calling telecom operator, and if the call goes through without changing the number, the called telecom operator misses the call to the subscriber. “In this way, cross-verification of calls of all telecom operators of the Russian Federation takes place”, — says the head of the CMU SSOP.
He also said that in the future it is planned to eliminate problems associated with phone calls from scammers via the Internet, including using instant messengers, as well as calls from scammers from abroad.
In January, it was announced that the Main Radio Frequency Center (GRC) subordinated to Roskomnadzor launched the Antifraud anti-fraud system at the end of last year and that MegaFon, MTS and VimpelCom were already connected to it. However, the solution to the problem with replacement numbers will be possible only after all Russian telecom operators connect to the system.
