The story of Kratos in God of War Ragnarok could have ended very differently — revelations of the developer

God of War Ragnarok Narrative Director Matt Sophos shared some unrealized ideas about Kratos’ fate in the game in a recent interview with MinnMax. The text contains spoilers to Ragnarok and God of War (2018).

Recall that in the ending of God of War (2018) they unequivocally hint at the coming outcome for Kratos. Players are shown a fresco depicting the death of a Spartan. In Ragnarok, however, the prophecy does not come true.
