Portal GamesIndustry.biz shared information about sales of retail editions of games in the UK for the period from 5 to 11 February this year. The week was marked by the release of the fantasy role-playing action game Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy was the top seller of the week, showing the best start among games in the Harry Potter universe and beating the previous record holder — Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001) from Electronic Arts — by 64%.
Moreover, Philosopher’s Stone’s second week of sales was the most successful (due to the hype around the film), but Hogwarts Legacy surpassed that result too (albeit by only 2%).

Collaboration with Warner Bros. Games and developers from Avalanche Software also proved to be convincing against the backdrop of major releases in 2022: in British retail, Hogwarts Legacy started 80% better than Elden Ring.
Approximately 82% of retail sales of Hogwarts Legacy were on PS5, with the remaining 18% on Xbox Series X and S. Editions for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch will be available at a later date.

Behind Hogwarts Legacy, second place was held by God of War Ragnarok, which saw a 10% increase in sales thanks to its inclusion in the popular bundle with PS5, while last week’s leader FIFA 23 fell back to third place.
