For some reason, the previous teamwork in FIFA is idealized, but it was terrible. Would you like to put your favorite star? Collect adjacent positions or hope that the team has a hyperlink! Changing positions helped a little, but it worked along strange axes: from winger to midfielder and from center forward to defensive midfielder. Wing players were tied to the curb.
In FIFA 23, the logic of squad building has changed. Players now have alternative playing positions, and chemistry works all over the field — colored links have disappeared forever. The system turned out to be cumbersome, so the developers removed the performance degradation from cards without chemistry. If you really want to, you can put the player in general at any position. The chemistry of FIFA 23 is impossible to understand. We’ve simplified the EA charts, but they still look like formulas
Chemistry in FIFA 23 gave the players a lot of opportunities, but it has a huge disadvantage — it is unrealistic to figure it out. If the old system was intuitive, the new one will not open up even after a few hours of intense analysis. And yet, how does it work?
To get started, you should know that there are three different parallel chemistry schemes in the game: club, country, and league points. The club works according to the formula 2 + 2 + 3, the nationality is 2 + 3 + 3, and the league is 3 + 2 + 3. These formulas are difficult to navigate: the branches of teamwork often overlap, especially clubs that, by definition, are in a certain league. Therefore, we created a more understandable scheme.
Two players from the same club give one chemistry diamond. Three players — two diamonds, and four — full chemistry. The country improves chemistry at two, five and eight players, and the league is a little different: three, five and eight. As you understand, intersections enhance the effect. The coach helps, but gives only one tiny league and nationality point, which is often not enough for anything. So it seems that the manager is not working.
How to apply the new chemistry? The patterns are varied, but the main ones are important to remember.
The basis of the former chemistry is hyperlinks. They remained, but now they work differently. The perfect bond is formed between three players from the same club, country and league. The classic double link will be closed by a teammate who needs one compatriot, or the coach’s league, but not the nationality — the country phase will require two more triggers. A hero card with the necessary league will help, but an idol with a nationality will not be enough.
The emphasis on teamwork has shifted from countries to clubs, they are much more profitable. The easiest way to close chemistry is with four teammates from any nationality. Expensive cards from football countries are overrated, now top clubs rule.
The simplest roster templates in FUT 23 are eight players from the same league + a perfect hyperlink or two team combos of four cards and a double hyperlink with a teammate who is closed by a coach with the required country. It is also possible ornate option to create a hybrid through a certain nationality, which will become the basis of the composition.
What else you should know about the new chemistry:
• Players in other positions do not lose their original characteristics, but are marked with an exclamation mark and do not strengthen other cards.
• Idols and heroes always have full teamwork in their home position.
• Substitutes no longer receive the minimum bonus and are equal to off-position players, but substitutions still enhance the game due to fresh form. Plus, there were five of them.
• The ideal composition without unnecessary connections (NLW) has sunk into oblivion. Even if it’s real, you won’t want to collect it.
• Single-league squads work great. Any casual coach is suitable for them.

The new chemistry system turned out to be too complicated. Most likely, teamwork will be completely abandoned in the future. But for now, you can play FIFA and practice before entering MSU.
