Starfield and Hogwarts Legacy are coming soon!
In recent years, every few weeks we have read about the next transfer of the game. There is a feeling that in 2023 all games will be released in general! But reality will put everything in its place: someone will leave again next year, and someone will generally need a lot of time to remake.
I checked the release dates of the most anticipated games of the year and found 8 projects that are very likely to be rescheduled!
STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl
They promise to release: in December 2023
The authors at GSC Game World feel like they don’t have time to make the game, let alone polish it to a shine. Therefore, the release is constantly delayed, and December 2023 is probably just a stub. Apparently, a new hunt for artifacts will have to wait until at least 2024.
Atomic Heart
Promise to release: February 21
February 21 is only the first release date, which doesn’t really mean anything for our gamedev. Shooter plays great, but optimization issues they make it clear: the game will either be released in February in a terrible state, or it will be postponed for 2-3 months so that gamers without modern video cards can play it. I believe in the right choice of Mundfish.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
Promise to release: May 26
The long-term construction from the wonderful Rocksteady Studios, although it has reached the finish line, still does not guarantee anything. The last game of the British came out in 2015 — they have nowhere to hurry, all the deadlines have already expired. But the recent disastrous release of the neighboring studio WB Games Montreal proved to everyone that bugs need to be fixed, the battle must be cool — and no grinding! Whether the studio fits all requirements, we will find out soon.
Baldur’s Gate 3
They promise to release: in August 2023
Larian Studios went the other way. She released BG3 back in 2020 in early access and slowly finished it, adding mechanics and classes. So far, only the first act of the game is available, 25 hours of gameplay; the rest is promised to be added in the release version. But since the game is already available, why rush to August? Developers may well take extra time to polish the RPG, especially since it is really large-scale.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
They promise to release: in the fall of 2023
Insomniac Games has a different kind of problem. The studio has gradually become the flagship of the gaming industry and the key Playstation studio. Think about it: in 26 years, Americans have created 25 games! Most of them are platform games of the Spyro and Ratchet & Clank series, which do not take so long to make, but the efficiency and hard work of Insomniac employees are amazing! Now the Californians are working simultaneously on at least three projects: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Marvel’s Wolverine and the new Ratchet & Clank. It is very difficult to take out such a volume, so the game about two Spiders and Venom may well be transferred.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
They promise to release: between April 2023 and March 2024
Ubisoft is setting new standards: last year it announced that it was working on as many as three AAAA games. What this means, no one knows yet. I would venture to suggest that the French are so-called long-term construction, which, apparently, will never come out. Skull & Bones, Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora are on the list — if it’s pointless to say anything about the first projects, then the authors of Tom Clancy’s The Division are working on Avatar. The game will definitely come out, and since it didn’t have time for the release of James Cameron’s blockbuster, where is the rush?
Avowed
They promise to release: in 2023-2024.
Obsidian creates a big and expensive fantasy RPG. The studio is well aware that now is a great chance to prove themselves and reach a new level. With Microsoft’s money and Phil Spencer’s endless patience, they’ll have plenty of time to build their dream project. I bet it will be released in 2025.
Dead Island 2
Promise to release: April 28
Did you really believe in the imminent release? You give!
